GlobalSign begins revoking SSL certificates for Russian websites. Up to 20,000 pages at risk, banks warn clients
One of the world's largest website certification centers, Japan's GlobalSign, has begun to forcibly revoke digital "passports" from Russian companies, according to RBC, citing sources. According to them, the process is being announced in a letter from the CEO of the Russian legal entity "GMO GlobalSign Russia", Dmitry Ryzhikov. The message to partners states that the international consortium of certification centers and browser developers CA/Browser Forum has introduced new requirements for verifying organizations:

TL;DR
- GlobalSign is forcibly revoking SSL certificates for Russian companies.
- New requirements from the CA/Browser Forum are cited as the reason, which indirectly enforce international sanctions.
- The revocation process will affect approximately 15-20 thousand second-level domains.
- Russian banks like T-Bank and Rosselkhozbank have warned customers about potential website and app access issues.
- Users might see "insecure connection" warnings or face access blocks in browsers and mobile apps.
- The Ministry of Digital Development expects minimal impact, highlighting GlobalSign's small market share in Russia and the availability of national certificates.
