Bezrukov Appointed Artistic Director of Gorky Moscow Art Theatre, Khabensky Becomes Acting Rector of Moscow Art Theatre School
Actor and theater director Sergey Bezrukov has been appointed artistic director of the Gorky Moscow Art Theatre, TASS reported. Konstantin Khabensky, in turn, has been appointed acting rector of the Moscow Art Theatre School. He will continue to head the Chekhov Moscow Art Theatre, TASS writes. Earlier, the Ministry of Culture released Konstantin Bogomolov from leading the Moscow Art Theatre School. The director himself asked for this amid dissatisfaction from graduates. Minister of Culture Olga Lyubimova announced Bogomolov's appointment on January 23. According to graduates, it violates the traditions of the educational institution. The director himself called this criticism 'rehashing the same old thing.' Since 2019, Bogomolov has held the position of artistic director of the Theatre on Malaya Bronnaya, and since 2024 he also heads the Melnikov Theatre-Stage (formerly the Roman Viktyuk Theatre). Bogomolov is the husband of journalist Ksenia Sobchak.
