Protest Against Livestock Culling Held in Novosibirsk Despite Organizer's Detainment
The "No to Punitive \"Veterinary\"!" action against mass livestock culling took place in Novosibirsk at the entrance to the square near the \"Globus\" theater, according to the Russian Communist Party (Internationalists). Several dozen people attended. A tractor for snow removal was brought into the square, and police stated that holding a rally there during its operation would be illegal. As a result, the rally was held at the entrance. It is reported that security forces did not disperse the event, and no arrests of protesters were reported. Earlier in the morning, one of the organizers, activist Sergey Krupinko, was detained on his way to the rally. The situation with mass livestock culling in Russia has gotten out of control. Authorities are sending veterinarians accompanied by police squads to private farms, who are confiscating, killing, and burning dozens of cows and other farm animals. There is an epidemic of foot-and-mouth disease in Russia, believes a representative of a Novosibirsk agro-holding company with whom \"Novaya Yevropa\" spoke. Until officials acknowledge this, more than half of the regions will not be able to start using vaccinations for prevention.
