Internet and communication to be turned off in the Moscow region following Moscow
Residents of the Moscow region may face 'temporary difficulties' with mobile communication and internet access. This was announced by Maxim Korkin, chairman of the Moscow Regional Duma committee on information technologies. Korkin justified the communication restrictions in the region by 'measures being taken at the federal level to ensure security.' According to Korkin, Wi-Fi is recommended for internet access, and VoWiFi for making calls and sending messages. However, it is claimed that access to the region's 'socially significant resources' will be 'ensured.' It is not specified whether this refers to a 'whitelist' of sites. Previously, 'whitelists' were launched in Moscow. Before that, the system in the capital either did not work or worked intermittently, one source told 'Kommersant.' According to him, 'whitelists' have now begun to function 'fully.' As reported by 'Ostorozhno, Moskva,' Moscow telecom operators have started sending subscribers messages with 'whitelists' of sites. It is unknown how quickly they work.
