Ministry of Defense to gain access to Civil Registry data
A bill has been introduced in the State Duma granting the Ministry of Defense the right to obtain information from the Civil Registry Office (ZAGS). The lower house's website reports this. In the explanatory note, the initiators stated that the changes are necessary to simplify the procedure for providing social support to military personnel, as well as to "optimize military registration." Among the signatories of the document are Nina Ostanina, chairman of the Duma committee on family protection, as well as Andrey Kartapolov, head of the defense committee, and his deputy Andrey Krasov.
