State Duma Deputy Andrei Svintsov Excluded from LDPR
State Duma Deputy Andrei Svintsov has been excluded from the LDPR party. The decision was unanimously made at a meeting of the presidium of the party's Supreme Council, according to the press secretary of the LDPR leader, Eleonora Kavshar. The deputy will continue to serve in the State Duma but will no longer be part of the LDPR faction. Photo: Andrei Svintsov's Telegram channel. According to Kavshar, Svintsov was expelled from the party 'due to his actions that damage the party's reputation, mass complaints from Russian residents, as well as demands from all regional party branches.' Vedomosti previously reported that the LDPR leadership intended to expel Svintsov from the party. Journalists' sources stated that the reason was the deputy's active stance regarding the blocking of Telegram. Over the past few months, he has given several dozen high-profile comments on this topic to various media outlets. 'Repeatedly over several meetings, [LDPR leader Leonid] Slutsky told him that this was the last warning and urged him not to comment on anything,' a Vedomosti source said. Andrei Svintsov became a State Duma deputy in June 2022. He received the mandate of the party's deceased founder, Vladimir Zhirinovsky. The politician also owns the 'LDPR TV' channel.
